WE REQUIRE YOUR ASSISTANCE REGARDING INSURANCE COVERAGE FOR HOMEOPATHS
Dear OHA Members,
We are compiling information regarding insurance coverage for treatment by a homeopath. Various companies are now offering this coverage, but not to all of their clients. For example, Manulife will cover homeopathy for retired teachers in Simcoe County, but not always to working teachers. It will be useful for us to create a database of those patients who currently receive compensation through their benefits when they visit a homeopath. This will aid us in finding effective strategies to lobby for standard coverage across the board. It will also be helpful in steering our patients to those providers as we will be able to see where individuals are currently receiving it.
To that end, we have added an online form in the members only section of the OHA website for all of us to fill in. Please take the time to fill in the form for each of your patients that currently receive coverage and ongoing as you acquire new patients that are covered. All information is general (no names) and confidential. You will be asked to provide their occupation ie, elementary school teacher, the location of same, ie York region, and health benefit provider.
You can find the form by logging in to the OHA website with your membership number and password, on the right side of the page you will see "Membership Menu", at the bottom of the membership menu you will see "Patient information form", click on that section and fill in the details, click submit at the bottom. It is important to click the submit button so that your patient is added to the list.
